Throughout the scriptures there are many examples of hard experiences, of things that a person has to suffer. For example, Abraham having to stand idly by as his wife was taken away by kings, the apostle Paul watching as their boat sank in a storm, Alma and his people becoming beasts of burden, etc. These lessons teach us great faith, to trust in the Lord implicitly. And sometimes, we know when these things are coming.
I would like to share one of these experiences. One time, I was praying fervently for a family member, to have faith in our Father in Heaven, to learn to trust Him, that He was watching close, and would ensure that all happened as it should. Well, that prayer was answered one day.
On this particular day, I was praying and was told that we would have a motor vehicle accident. I was a little anxious for the others involved to go through this trial well, but I trusted that the Lord would take good care of all the details. It was only a short way up the road when it happened. There was slush on the road, and the vehicle started to slide and fish-tail around the curve. The vehicle went across the road, the rear wheels going into the steep ditch, pulling the vehicle off the road, and flipping us over. We landed on the roof of the vehicle, all of us hanging upside down from our seatbelts.
One of the passengers exited the vehicle fast and ran up to the road, flagging down help, then returned to the vehicle to help others. Two more people exited the vehicle and called to me, to which I responded that I was okay, and to get the other passenger out, the subject of the prayers.
During all of this, more people stopped to help. There were rescue personnel that were driving along and had willingly stopped to help. The ambulance was called, and even a policeman showed up. There were folks that started to do traffic control, and it was apparent the Lord had all these people lined up already. It was very smooth!
With things running so smoothly, I was able to focus on the injured family member. The refocusing of the mind, the training of a new way of thinking, all worked together to create new pathways of great faith. Father did His work so smoothly, it was incredible to watch!
The end result is, that particular family member stopped worrying so much about every detail of their life, but now trusts in God, who has all things in hand! The other four people in the vehicle were pleased to be able to help the Lord in His great work.
