I was going to post this on the thread "Things That Block Us" but this post does seem to be able to stand alone, so perhaps it should be it's own thread.
One of the things that block people from getting to the Lord is hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is when a person pretends to be doing right, but has a double standard. In other words, has one standard for themselves, and a different standard for others. They do often claim that it is not a double standard by citing reasons for why they are in the right, and why others are in the wrong. This explanation in and of itself reveals their understanding of their hypocritical behaviour, which leaves them without excuse, and without validation of their hypocritical behaviour.
Often, hypocritical people are so far gone in their hypocrisy that they either do not know, or will refuse to acknowledge that they are being hypocritical, because they justify their behaviour so much. In other words, they have convinced themselves that they are not doing anything wrong. But when others do the same/similar thing, the hypocrite is the first to point out the hypocrisy. And, since the hypocrite can point out the hypocrisy, they thereby reveal that they do clearly understand the principle, and therefore are completely guilty themselves.
The hypocrite does not like to hear the truth, because the truth cuts them to the very core! And when cut, the hypocrite is so pained, they lash out, accusing others of hypocrisy, hoping to hurt others in the same way they were hurt. Yet, it does not work on a righteous person, because the righteous person loves the truth, and is not harmed by the truth, nor by false accusations.
Because Father is Love, His first priority is the victims of hypocrisy. And Father often will reach out to the victims of hypocrisy, as long as they do not respond in a negative way to the hypocrisy done against them. This of course, may anger the hypocrite into being more aggressive in their hypocrisy to their victims, and thereby distance themselves from the Holy Spirit of God even further.
Father still reaches out to the wayward child of hypocrisy, asking him to turn back to Him, but Father does not validate the hypocrite. In fact, the evil of hypocrisy was clearly pointed out by the Son of God Himself, and He clearly expounded on the end result of the hypocrite.
What about the spiritual experiences of the hypocrite? Those experiences which the hypocrite uses to validate their belief, that they must not be doing so bad, since God has granted these graces.
As the scriptures teach, Father’s arm is stretched out in mercy, and when someone tries to move forward, toward Him, the spiritual results will come. This does not justify the hypocrite, but rather condemns him. It condemns him, because he can clearly see that moving toward the Lord has those promised results, and therefore, the hypocritical behaviour will also have the promised results in the end: Depart from me, ye that work iniquity. I say unto you; ye never knew me!
